It is isomer of linoleic acid which is essential fatty acid and double-combining positions (C8, C10; C9, C11; C10, C12; C11, C13), and different forms such as cis,cis; cis,trans; trans,cis; trans,trans. This is generated by chemical or micro-organism method. It is contained in meats or dairy products from ruminants.
Recently, it is gaining attention as a functional food ingredient since its ingredient CLA revitalizes physiologic functions such as carcinostatis, anti-cholesterol effect, anti-oxidation, body fat reduction effect, immunity improvement effect, diabetes prevention, and so on.
